Elimination of static electricity when handling polyurethane sandwich panels

Problem: A customer from the production of plastic windows had a problem with the high electrical charge when handling of polyurethane sandwich panels with a weight of 300 kg / pc. This electrical charge destroyed encoders. This side effect causing downtime and loss of production and increased investment to purchase new encoder. Also there was a high risk of damage to the manipulator and an accident in a warehouse.

Solution: During the analysis of the problem, we found that the panels by their own weight charged and glued together. During the separation of the panels the electric charge had lower values above 100 kV down to values outside the range of the measuring instrument, above 200 kV. Used ionising bars NEOS 30 eliminated this electric charge. Handling robot may no longer exert such power when lifting the panels and the encoder is not ruined by force of electric charge.

Used product: Anti-static ionizing bar NEOS 30, 750 mm with power supply from the Fraser Anti-Static Techniques.

The resulting benefit: The customer no longer needs to solve the problem with electric charge and frequent exchanges of destroyed encoder. With our solution, we managed to eliminate the risk of injuries and accidents in the warehouse and ensure 100 % safety in the workplace, which has previously been threatened because of the risk of damage during handling robots lifting panels.
